Jitterbug and Gin

For my sister's birthday I got her two pair of brogues. A shoe that everyone loves, especially me. They were the perfect score from Target for fifteen dollars each. The dress was another article of clothing I went goo-goo over.
I can't wait until my little shopping trip to Tyson's Corner Mall. Yeah for Urban Outfitters!!! Also we are looking for homecoming attire. I am thinking a silk column gown. The biggest hit of my life though was the show, Secret of a Stylist. Congratulations Emily Henderson! Well deserved and quirky show.

Fall into Fall

I am so happy for Autumn! I can't wait for the flavors and colors. The season just feels warm and welcoming. I really have been done with summer for about a month now. I WANT CRISP FALL AIR!
The collage I created above is a little taste of what I want for this brisk, leafy season. The mustard silk dress is perfect. It can be layered or worn by itself. The dress and cardigan are both from J.Crew. The plaid poncho jacket is from Anthropologie. It envokes a sense of ease with the season's staple print. Plaid. The satchel and brogues are from Urban Outfitters. I believe in tonal accesories for Fall. They give a feeling of wilderness.

As for the gingerbread men and pumpkin, I LOVE these flavors for the season. Pumpkin muffins ring in the good attitude. I recently bought cookie cutters in the shape of wild animals such as bears and moose. So I can't wait to make some gingerbread cookies.

Army of One

Recently I have been loving strong-shouldered jackets. I know that they are kinda of style but who cares! It felt right to purchase and wear one. I got this for my sister at the Goodwill for six dollars. It is probably from the late 70's and was made in Paris. How great of another find is that?! We just started school again, so Ugh.
Yet the tough girl studs and brocade shawl collar, can handle the mean halls of school. Just kidding but teenagers can be rude.
The jacket reminded me so much of the Balmain collection.

Madame Cupcake

Once upon a time there was a era called the fifties. Every girl wore the same silhouette, that included a full skirt and tight bodice/waist. It transformed them into what looked like a cupcake. It was the age of sugar, spice and everything nice.
The shirt dress was a find at a little church yard sale for two dollars. It was great deal and find. Unfortunately it didn't lay the way I wanted it to. So I placed a ballerina full skirt dress under it, to add some volume. Cause who wants flat hair or skirt.

Emily Henderson

Sorry I haven't posted anything in a while, but life has taken over. Well school work has taken over. Once I finish all my last summer assignments, I will have so much free time. My latest and greatest obsession is Emily Henderson. She is a contestant on HGTV's Design Star. Last night she made it to the final two (hell yeah). I love that she is so quirky and full of spunk. Her designs are rich and full of delicate objects. They all have nothing in common but somehow to by the way she places them.
Here is a taste of what she did last night with a glass box. Everything is magnificent!!!!! I really don't know how I could deal if she doesn't win. If she does win then Emily will get her own television series upon to watch her greatness. Ughhhhh what a time that will be.

Thanks HGTV.com for the pictures.

Rock n' Roll

Summer is almost over and I am kinda excited. I don't know why but this year has been nothing but hot. To beat the heat, we just took pictures in our backyard. The outfit was definitely good for 90 degree weather.
Speaking of the outfit, which is part men, burger joint and rebel 50's attitude inspired. We went with a strong lip to counterbalance the head scarf. She is just so kick ass. It just makes my smirk thinking about it.

5 Ingredient Fix

I love simple cooking, so it is no surprise that I love the Food Network show, 5 ingredient fix.
Claire Robinson, the host, is devilishly smart and beautiful. She is so youthful with her charm and really makes you understand how to fix her dishes. The food she creates is always effortless, unfortunately when I cook it is not. Her outfits on the show are modernly urban and southernly homey. A style that is effortless, I love that (obviously).

Her kitchen set in the first season is adorable it kinda reminds of the kitchen in "It's Complicated". I don't know where I made that connection.

A ginger pumpkin tart that looks crazy refreshing. The refreshing that makes you hum while you eat it. Can't wait to try to make it.

(1) Oufit of Summer

So I kinda of love the indie darling, Zooey Deschanel. It almost could be called obsession. I am in love with her style of acting, musical endeavors and most of all her simple style. It has a elegant ease to it. I wanted to emulate something similar. I hope this passes the test. Here are the honest reason why I love here.

  1. Her musical skills are what artists hope to achieve over time. Her vocal depth is wise and earthy.
  2. The fact that she is still kinda of unknown but people who know her, love her projects.
  3. (500) Days of Summer
  4. Her creative and unique acting choices. Look at reason three.
  5. The fact that she drinks tea instead of coffee. Weird I know but so unusually un-routine.
  6. The sheer tights galore!
