Posing in the Rain

So finally we get rain, and what do I want to do? Take pictures of course. I am so happy I mean look how spotty my grass has become. So in celebration of this new found weather, I explored what type of outfit would be fun. The best part I think is the hat. Just saying, it is very Mary Poppins looking in my opinion.

Outfit: Top is H&M, Pants are American Eagle, Shoes are from Target, necklace and belt are vintage, hat is a find at wine festival, umbrella is Urban Outfitters, and ring is Forever 2.

Dolce and Gabbana have created a great breath of fresh air. Their Spring 2011 certainly brought joy to my dull week. I love how they continued the "ideal" of the Sicilian, into its its third season. I also can't get enough of the white lace or should i say napkin embroidery. I have always loved a good little white dress. I invokes anew attitude to any woman. One word from me to them, amore!

Out of Africa

I really haven't had much luck or fun this week. My biggest complaint though, is that it is too hot! Gosh when will it be below seventy degrees. The only thing good was the return of 30 Rock, it truly was the best part. Sad, I know so in my stump I created another collage. This time though it is partly military but mostly earthy inspired. Enjoy!
All the looks are from Dries van Noten Fall 2010, the boots are from Madewell, the dress is Forever 21, satchel is Asos, coat is J. Crew, and ring is from Urban Outfitters. I adore the apricot color of the coat, it is so pretty. The Dries van Noten looks are prime examples of comfy and exuberant dressing. It is a mix of casual elegance and sporty feminine.

My Favorite Things

My favorite things for fall, and this time I am shopping in my closet. Well my family's closets. All I want is knits and layers that have personal meanings. Each thing I picked is special in its own way, like what parents tell their kids.

Scarf is from Urban Outfitters, I got it for my mom when I was on this floral kick. I could not get enough of the lady like print. Literally everything I purchased was flora related.

THE BEST SWEATER EVER. It is a classic, knit gray sweater that has a unique neckline. Thank you H&M! (Yes, the all caps is necessary)

The shirt is from Madewell, and we got it, when we got my sister's Homecoming dress. It is a great celebration of the mood to her dress and a perfect on key piece for fall. I personally love the two tone denim look.
The blue sheath in a egg shape, is from New York and Company. I loved the dress at first, my sister did not. Yet over time she began to understand it. The fit is kinda of a couture shape. I mean the general public still hasn't accepted the sack silhouette. Well they expect a defined waist.

I went to see Lady Gaga in concert at University of Virginia. Enough said.

Lovely Traveler

I can't get enough vintage lately. It has become my obsession. Any decade and period will do. In my opinion you are buying a piece of history and probably spending less on a quality garment. So in honor of my new found hobby, I got this sequined tunic straight out of the eighties. It is from my friend Nicole's grandmother. It is ironic how old things become go through a life cycle of new, dated, new again for a short period, storage, vintage and timeless. The tunic is perfect and reminds me of Thiery Mugler.
Outfit: Top and Earrings are Eighties Vintage, Jeans from American Eagle, and Heels are Steve Madden.
I really want seventies pieces now, I have been on hunt. I feel that it is a silhouette that I haven't explored. I would love to find a real vintage Halston or Yves Saint Laurent.

Free Bird

I will begin by saying that the idea of fashion and what is trendy and what isn't and what looks good and what doesn't and.... who cares! "Fashion is fleeting'" as Tom Ford put it. Gasp, I know but a certain point you get to a stand still and say " What the hell do I want to wear?" Minus all the bull shit of magazines and trends. Their propaganda and product pushing. Eck!!
So as I take a turn in my life, I realize that comfort and ease makes true style. I am done with the silly stuff, and focusing on the emotional connotation that comes with clothes. So here, be free as a bird with this late 60's and knit inspired look.

Outfit: Top is Vintage, Belt and Ring from Belk, Tweed Shorts from American Eagle, Shoes are Steve Madden, and the socks are really old.

One of the greatest collections that I have seen my adult life. http://http//www.marcjacobs.com/#/en-us/marcjacobscollection/women/spring11/runwayvideo

Thank you Marc!

Also can't wait to see more of Tom Ford's womenswear line.

Wide Leg for All

I am so sick of skinny jeans! They make women look like birds if they aren't ... um, well skinny. So what is my new favorite you ask, the wide leg trouser. It reminds me of the seventies with its long and lean silhouettes. The best part of the fit is the movement. And who doesn't want the opportunity of comfort. The looks below invoke the attitude I love and fit I crave. Minimal and wide leg are gorgeous!
Chloe - Fall 2010

Celine - Fall 2010 (So not exactly wideleg but perfectly minimal)

Time makes the heart grow fonder!

Here is a story all about how my life got turned upside down,
I'd like to take a minute, just sit right there,
And tell you all about how I became the ... busiest person ever.
I know it has been longer than a week since I last posted anything but I promise, I have tried. Like losing that last five pounds, I haven't been very successful. I now am ready with only a little work left from school.
So lately I have been buying up pressed shirts like it is my job. Well, it will be for half a year when I go to work for the government. I love collar tabs and semi-spread collars and stripes and paisleys. All things I can't wait to wear when it cools down a little.
I have been spending more time outside lately and and feel it is appropriate to create a patent Workingman's Vogue collage. In due honor I present a collage with thinks necessary for the LIGHT adventurer. The shorts and cardigan are from J. Crew, plus add a layer of comfort and texture. The silk cargo shirt is goregoussssssssss, and from Madewell. When I went to go shopping for homecoming dance I saw it in person and about had a fit. The shoes are purrrfect( Yes, I did that) and are from Target. The satchel is from Urban Outfitters.

Here are some old pictures of my sister doing here best at looking grunge. I love Courtney Love in a ... watch from safe distance and communicate on phone. The boots really are the only thing that reminds me of grunge, anyways. Yet it paired well with the romper, so como asi-asi.

Outfit:Romper from J. Crew, Boots are Charlotte Russe, Necklaces from Target
